Local heroes help unveil new business ‘Wrapsies’

Last week saw the unveiling of a new business in Clonmel, with the help of Clonmel mayor Darren Ryan.

Wrapsies – the towels with a twist are all about keeping your modesty under wraps – so what are they? Our grandparents made and swore by them, our parents spent their summers in them and loved them, so where did they go and why did a generations struggle on without them when in fact they were so needed all along? What are we talking about? Towels. Well towels with a twist actually, modified, with the sole intention of tackling that painful life struggle of protecting one’s modesty and that of our children when dressing in public places.

They are called Wrapsies and with fabulous designs and luxurious textures, they are making a big comeback and Denise Dawson, managing director of The Wrapsies company who produce them said they have been overwhelmed by the interest to-date with demand far exceeding original expectations. These modified multifunctional towels, are back with a bang and are looking very trendy.

Having originally been made for convenience of dressing, today’s Wrapsies are designed to multitask. For example - children preserving their modesty and keeping warm at the gym, the swimming pool, the dance class and the outdoor sports activity. Then of course there is the sun protection element and drying off following a swim at the beach.

Adult Wrapsies naturally benefit from all of the above as well, but orders have also come in from spas and hair salons with the matching head wraps a very popular add on.

Denise and her team have carved out a niche in the market for several Wrapsies products and have trade-marked several more. Denise believes, especially in this financial climate there is a growing market for convenience products, as long as the design is great and the highest quality of product and customer service is maintained.

As a cottage industry, Wrapsies’ initial sales channels where craft fairs and local markets however internet sales on www.wrapsies.ie followed by trade enquiries from leisure centres, salons and various other retail outlets has led to a ramping up of activities at Wrapsies, resulting in the official launch.

Wrapsies would also like to acknowledge the support shown from Clonmel Local Heroes group, who have given both time and practical assistance in making the Wrapsies launch a great success.
