N.M.C. SESSIONS AT THE 19TH

Mundy, Garrett Wall Band and N.M.C. Sessions during Junction week.

Mundy with special guest Adela Meally will play on Tuesday 6th July, tickets at Premier Music and Brazil's Bar, and Garrett Wall Band will play a full gig, tickets at door, + N.M.C. Sessions with Jukebox Gypsy, Bean Dolan, Renny Field and Robin James Hurt all on Wed. 7th July at New Music Club at Brazil's Cafe Bar, Irishtown, Clonmel during Junction Festival week. This is going to be two superb nights, not to be missed.

Mundy was born Edmund Enright in the rural town of Birr, County Offaly, in 1976. At age 18, Mundy moved to Dublin and began performing on infamous busker haven Grafton Street, and at open-mike nights at the nearby International Bar. Less than two years later Mundy signed with Sony subsidiary Epic Records, and released his debut single, "To You I Bestow," on New Year's Day 1996.

One came to Madrid to get out of music; another played in the Metro. One served pints of Guinness and the other taught English classes: the unassuming beginnings of the four honorary Madrileos that comprise the Garrett Wall Band: each one doing the hard graft playing with various projects, before finally crossing paths in the Autumn of 2006 and joining forces as the GWB.

In 2007 they released their first album, Sky Pointing, recorded live over three days in PKO Studios with the production of Fernando Montesinos. The project was then mixed in Nashville by David Ferguson, known for his work with Rick Rubin on recordings of U2, Jacob Dylan and the American Recordings of Johnny Cash.

That first CD of the GWB marked a point of departure for future recordings: a clean and powerful acoustic concept in which each of the four members – Garrett Wall (guitar/piano/voice), Howard Brown (trumpet/voice), Robbie K. Jones (cajn) and Dave Mooney (bass/doublebass) – form a cornerstone in the foundation of the group’s sound. All club info in local papers, Tipp FM, facebook and myspace.com/newmusicclub.

NEW LOCALLY CREATED DANCE WORK

To Premier at Junction Festival

A new locally based dance company - the Iseli-Chodi Dance Company will premier their new dance piece MSY2 [me seeing you too] at the Junction Festival at Chadwick’s, Clonmel on the 2nd July with further performances on the 3rd and 4th July. Dancers Jazmin Chiodi and Alexandre Iseli have been working as dancers in residence in South Tipperary since 2008. The South Tipperary Dance Residency was initiated by South Tipperary County Council Arts Service and Tipperary Excel. The Dance Residency aims to develop contemporary dance in the County, both as a practice and as an Art form.

MSY2 [me seeing you too] mixes dance with video projected on a changing 3-dimensional set, and further explores the relationships between public and performers, and the shifts between image projection and physical dance. Choreographed and performed by Jazmin Chiodi and Alexandre Iseli. The video and the lighting design have been created by Colombian artist Catalina Fernandez.

MSY2 [me seeing you too] was commissioned and funded by South Tipperary County Council Arts Service and Tipperary Excel Centre, and is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland under their Commissions award. South Tipperary County Council Arts Service and Tipperary Excel are working in partnership with The Junction Festival as co-producers, making it possible to finalize the piece and show it on stage.

The creation work was realised within South Tipperary Dance Residency, and also during a Blank Canvas Residency (Blank Canvas Residency scheme, Firkin Crane, Cork). The support of Cork Film Centre was instrumental for the realisation of the videos and their projection on stage.

“Involving multi-video projections and dismantling the frontal dimension of performance, MSY2[me seeing you too] juxtaposes elements of dance in a changing space, and mixes layers without hierarchy : an eclectic array of images and actions, dancers and objects, entangled in wires and screens, scattered with colours and darkness, exposing contents and structure…. softly chaotic, MSY2 brings the outdoors into the theatre, the public on and around the stage, multiplies the angles, interrupts the flow. Referring to Amish Fulton’s “an object cannot compete with an experience”, MSY2 provides an experience with little more to interpret than your own feelings. Sensorial rather than rational, making space for unnamed memories and sensations, MSY2 seeks to blur the frontier between public and performer. It evokes the prevalence of our sensitive body over abstract thinking, the ambiguous mirroring relationship between the show and the spectator...” [Jazmin Chiodi and Alexandre Iseli]

As part of the Junction Festival Participation Programme the Iseli-Chiodi Company will be working with 10 committed young dancers looking for a training experience : they will take part in a 5 days dance workshop organized by Clonmel Junction Festival. The workshop, tutored by Alexandre & Jazmin, will lead into a short piece that will be presented 3 times in Clonmel Junction Festival, including one performance for the launching event of the Festival. This work will lead the public into the performance of MSY2[meseeing you too]. The workshop will take place in Clonmel between the 24 of June and the 4 of July. For more information about the participation project or to book tickets check out the Junction Festival website www.junctionfestival.com
