Local start-ups urged to apply to fund

minister Kelly is urging local start-up business to apply for the Enterprise Ireland’s Competitive Start Fund which provides young companies with the critical early stage funding to test the market for their products and services and progress their business plans for the global marketplace.

“This has been an extremely successful business innovation from Government. Over 15 companies have benefited from this start-up funding. Minister Bruton has just announced that four more rounds of the Competitive Start Fund are planned for 2012, the first of was launched last Thursday”.

“It is vital for growth in this country that we create smart local industry to drive the engine of growth and take advantage of export opportunities. This fund is one of the instruments that the government uses to encourage and support indigenous companies in innovative and exporting sectors”.

“Supporting Ireland’s new entrepreneurs is one of the Government’s top priorities and I would urge new business to avail of all the supports available to them

The closing date for applicants is Thursday February 9, and this call is open to start-ups from both ICT and Industrial sectors including sub-sectors such as Internet, Games, SaaS, Cloud Computing, Enterprise Software, Telecoms, Lifesciences, Cleantech and Industrial Products.
