Inaugural Arts and Health Exchange Day at Raheen House

Are you an artist, musician, writer, dancer, arts therapist, community arts worker or arts facilitator with a strong interest or experience in arts and health? Do you wish to meet like-minded individuals and share your experiences in this area? If so you are invited to attend an exchange day event with guest speakers and world cafe session. This event, supported by the South Tipperary Arts Service, South Tipperary County Council, is aimed at those primarily living or working in South Tipperary but all are welcome to attend.

Guest speakers include artist Sheelagh Broderick; eco/arts therapist Lyn Mather; film-maker, director and writer Will Nugent; musicians Steffan Grace and Tom O’Dwyer. There will also be an introduction to ‘Shift in Perspective - An Arts and Disability Resource pack’ by Sally O’Leary, arts officer, South Tipperary Arts Service. There will also be a World Cafe session - a participative gathering where people engage in creative conversations - while sitting cafe-style around tables.

This event is organised by the South Tipperary Arts and Health Interest Group: Deirdre Delamere, Aisling Egan, Lyn Mather and Brigid Teehan. This group was formed in 2011 to organise an exchange day for artists which aims to open up dialogue that will lead to the ongoing development of this emerging field of work of participatory arts practice in health care environments. The group aims to provide a network of collaborative partnership of people who come together in their distinctive roles to engage the public in creative activities that aim to improve health and wellbeing. The group also wants to provoke greater critical reflection and response in the area of arts participation, both within and beyond health care settings into the future.
