Countdown to Adult Learner Festival

The South AONTAS Adult Learner Festival will take place from February 20-25. 

Veronica Crowe, Community Education Facilitator with South Tipperary VEC, is the central coordinator of events. There is a great variety of activities planned:

A “Learning Bus” will visit one location in South Tipperary. Participants of The Three Drives Family Resource Centre in Tipperary Town will board a learning bus on Thursday February 23 to visit the Clonmel Library and participate in a Photography Workshop and also visit the County Museum to view their exhibition. 

The VTOS group in Cahir, under the guidance of tutor Tina Looby, will host a workshop which will focus on making costumes for the St. Patrick’s Day parade with recycled materials.  

During the week, VEC adult learners in Clonmel are staging a small celebration of learning demonstrating some of the content found on the FETAC level 3 General Learning Programme.  It takes place in the Ormonde Centre near the Railway Station on Tuesday February 21 between 10.30 and 12.30. It will involve learner displays of posters celebrating learning and demos of ICT and Maths skills. Refreshments will also be served. 

The energetic VTOS group in Clonmel are getting FIT to Learn by participating in Health Talk’s followed by a loop walk on Friday February 24.  

Other VEC Adult Education groups throughout South Tipperary  will participate in a variety of Adult and Community Education Programmes to celebrate by stretching through Yoga, up-skilling in  computers, relaxing through Tai Chi, enjoying the beat and songs through music therapy. These events will link into over 200 nationwide events taking place during the Festival in Libraries, Galleries, Leaning Centre’s, Museums. So let’s celebrate in style. More information contact Veronica at 052 61 26269 or log onto  www.adultlearnerfestival.com
