Clancy family unite for special tribute to Bobby

Members of the famous Clancy family, from Carrick-on-Suir will unite next week for a special tribute concert in aid of the late Bobby Clancy.

The intimate Brewery Lane Theatre will be the venue for this special concert which will run for two nights on Wednesday January 18 and Thursday January 19.

Directed by Bobby’s nephew Colm Power, this special evening will include beloved songs and recitations of Bobby Clancy’s performed by his children who are all accomplished musicians whose repertoire range from traditional Irish songs to ballads and contemporary folk. His son Finbarr, renowned vocalist and musician who toured with the Clancy Brothers back in the mid-90s, returned home sometime later and joined the celebrated Irish ballad group The High Kings who have sold out hundreds of shows in Ireland and the US. His daughter Roisin, an accomplished actress and singer, who recently returned home from Wales currently lives in Ring with her family and is busy touring the circuit with her singer/songwriter husband Ryland Teifi. Bobby’s daughter Aoife, who has established herself as one of the divas of Irish and contemporary folk music, currently resides in Massachusetts, USA and has performed with the infamous Irish traditional music and dance group Cherish the Ladies. She has been a featured soloist with orchestras such as the Boston Pops, with seven recordings under her belt, she is now touring the USA with her own band and while back home for the holidays will be joining Finbarr and Roisin on the stage at Brewery Lane accompanied by friends of the late Bobby Clancy and The Theatre Group for this very special event.

Booking opened yesterday Jan 11 at the Heritage Centre, Carrick-on-Suir 051 640200. This will be a rare evening of song, music and tales honouring the life of the late Bobby Clancy and is one show that is not to be missed.
